1. How do I know if your services can help me? Our services help the management of client
organizations to define and achieve goals through improved utilization of resources. This may include
helping identify problems or opportunities and guiding the process of developing solutions. Common
situations suggesting we may be of help include:
Management believes that performance could be better but is not sure what to do to gain improvements
Management does not have the specific knowledge and skills necessary to solve the problems it has identified
Management has the knowledge and skills but not the time or the personnel to solve problems
Management's efforts have not produced the desired long-term improvements
The organization is new or growing and needs to formalize procedures and define a corporate culture
Management's vision for the organization involves growth, expanded products or services, or achieving
"best in class" status. Third-party assistance is desired to provide the focus and accountability to drive the
desired growth.
2. What is the profile of a typical Sherpa client? Our clients come from many different industries and vary
in size and geographic location. They typically have the following in common:
Our clients are committed to seeing their business grow and thrive
Our clients view their people as a most valuable resource
Our clients realize that traditional training is not the only answer for improved performance
Our clients are ready and willing to make changes or try a new approach
Our clients understand that doing so is a process, not an event
3. Performance expectations are consistently not met. Team productivity is substandard. How can
Sherpa help? We'll get familiar with individuals and team interactions through diagnostic tools like interviews
and surveys. Using a change approach called Appreciative Inquiry (Ai) we'll uncover the desired future state
of the team and identify obstacles in the way. Ai methodology helps us explore best practices around
performance standards, define expectations, and develop appropriate structures and practices to fully
engage employees.
4. Change (restructuring, new or redefined processes, staff or role changes) has resulted in poor morale,
ineffective interactions, and increased interpersonal conflict. How can Sherpa help?We recognize that in
these situations people may need a forum for being heard and venting frustrations. We provide that forum AND
channel the energy towards creating positive forward movement. Our process helps the team focus on
relationship building, define and co-create the desired environment. We also help develop tools and strategies for sustainability.
5. Manager(s) lack the knowledge, skills, or ability to be truly effective leaders. How can Sherpa help?
The first step is to define the leadership competencies that give your organization strategic advantage - what
do your leaders need to excel at doing? Next individual's leadership competencies are assessed using
360-degree feedback and leadership styles are identified, explored, and understood. Through one-on-one
coaching, Individual Development Plans (IDP) are created and implemented. While IDPs may include training
in specified areas, our overall approach is much more focused and effective than simply sending your managers
out for leadership training.
6. Just today I looked at a dozen websites offering team development and leadership training services.
