Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick LencioniAccording to Patrick Lencioni, author of Five Dysfunctions of a Team teamwork remains the one sustainable competitive advantage that has been largely untapped.

As difficult as teamwork is to measure and achieve, its power cannot be denied. By eliminating the politics and confusion that plague most organizations, teams can get more done in less time and with less cost.

Customized SolutionsTwo Day Team Workshop

About our Customized Solutions

Using our custom ChangeWorks assessment, we’ll help you measure the effectiveness of your team members’ behaviors and performance levels, relative to Overcoming the Five Dysfunctions of a Team. ChangeWorks is a tension management tool, measuring individual engagement and productivity levels, AND providing information, tools and techniques for positively influencing the same. It is extremely useful in the beginning of our work with a team or organization to help us thoroughly understand the client’s desired outcomes and specifically what each team member needs in order to successfully achieve those outcomes.

First, we will work together to identify the specific activities that are critical for team members to perform in order to achieve the mission and goals of the organization. Next, each team member will complete the customized ChangeWorks survey by self–assessing their own level of perceived ability and perceived challenge for each activity or outcome. Individual ratings are then plotted onto a ChangeGrid, which provides us with valuable information for guiding your team’s learning process. By adding the Changeworks assessment prior to your team workshop, it allows us to dramatically understand the challenges your team, and individual team members, face and to understand what is needed to help overcome the challenges.

Curious about ChangeWorks? Preview our “Overcoming the Five Dysfunctions of a Team” ChangeWorks tool by completing a complimentary assessment* now!

* Once you’ve completed the survey, we will email you the resulting ChangeGrid and set up
a time to interpret the grid with you.

2-Day Team Workshop

Does your leadership team exhibit any of the following behaviors:

  • Unwilling or unable to engage in heated dialogues and debate in order to really understand one another's viewpoints?
  • Hesitate to ask for help or provide constructive feedback?
  • Make assumptions or conclusions about the intentions of others without attempting to clarify them?
  • Hesitate or fearful of bringing up controversial topics, even when those topics are critical to team success?
  • Waste time and energy with posturing and interpersonal risk management?
  • Revisit discussions and decisions again and again?
  • Miss deadlines and key deliverables?
  • Place undue burden on the team leader as the sole source of accountability?
  • Agree on a course of action at the meeting table, but do not follow through on what's expected?

This two-day* workshop has one overall goal: to help your team make substantial progress towards becoming a more cohesive, high-performing team.

During the workshop, a team can expect to:

  • Assess themselves against the Five Dysfunctions
  • Understand and implement the requirements of a high performing team
  • Build trust among team members
  • Better understand the benefits of engaging in ideological conflict
  • Develop strategies for ensuring alignment and commitment among team members
  • Gain a sense of momentum, energy and enthusiasm for the future
  • Have opportunities to practice and apply workshop concepts (i.e.: problem-solving and making a team decision about how to proceed, holding each other accountable to expectations, handling differences of opinion or conflicts, seeking to understand other's opinions and views instead of making assumptions, etc.) via experiential activities

* while designed to be a 2-day workshop, specific timeframe and follow-up suggestions will be determined based on the needs of your group.

Tools used in this program:
